THE INSTALLATION
The museum wanted to give visitors the opportunity to interact with
their exhibits and educate them about the museums' collection. It
chose the Magus system as it provided an engaging way to provide in-
depth information about the exhibits.
In late 2005, 14 Hypertags were installed alongside the most popular
exhibits as phase 1 of the project. Visitors are able to access the information and images through PDAs available at the museum entrance.
In 2007 phase 2 will see the number of Hypertags in use increase to up to 50 and it is also planned that visitors will be able to point and click to receive multimedia content such as a video clips of pottery being produced or images from the museum's own archive.
Content for the system is managed locally providing The Potteries
Museum with the ability to update the information visitors receive as
the exhibitions change. The system also allows the Museum to track
visitors as they go around the exhibits providing invaluable feedback
on visitor behaviour.
