Visitor Attraction Solutions or interpretation systems are used by museums, art galleries, visitor centres and other public attractions to help create a highly enjoyable and educational experience for individual visitors and organised groups such as school children. Hypertag demonstrated its first PDA Visitor Attraction Solution at the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge UK in 2002. Since then, it has gone on to supply PDA based Visitor Attraction Solutions to over fifteen museums, art galleries and other heritage organisations around the world.

The guiding principle behind Hypertag’s Visitor Attraction Solutions is that handheld multimedia devices such as PDAs or mobile phones allow visitors to access content that is much richer than is available either through traditional audio guides or static displays or leaflets.

‘Magus’ PDA-based Visitor Attraction Solutions

To better support demand, Hypertag has developed a standard product offering called the Magus Visitor Attraction Solution. Additional enhanced features can be added to the core product to increase the level of visitor engagement, depending on the requirements of the individual site. Many advanced features can be incorporated such as:

Personalisation: Visitor profiles can be set up, so content can be provided according to their adopted profile.
Bookmarking: The learning journey can be extended by allowing visitors to have access to some of the content beforehand to prepare for their visit e.g. a teacher.
Treasure Hunt: A treasure hunt capability enables visitors to perform fun and engaging exercises such as collecting clues or discovering hidden items in different parts of the venue.
Voting interactivity: Groups of visitors are able to vote or participate in interactive competitions.
Interaction with digital screens: A visitor can have a PDA version of content such as ‘Spot the ball’ that is running on a digital screen.
